Project Associate

Location: Remote (Anywhere in the United States)

Annual Salary: $52,000-$65,000

Total Compensation Package:

  • 5% defined contribution to 401k after one year (not a match)

  • $3,000 annual healthcare cost reimbursement (tax-free)

  • Five weeks PTO plus 11 paid holidays

  • Overtime compensation

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Project Associate with a love of learning and passion for helping others. Don't worry about industry expertise – we'll teach you the content. Working within our tight-knit team of 20 professionals, you'll have direct access to senior leadership, including our President & CEO, while developing valuable skills at the intersection of client service and business development.

What You'll Do

  • Help drive multiple client projects focused on strengthening small businesses

  • Create and deliver high-quality deliverables alongside experienced team members

  • Build relationships with clients through regular communication and support

  • Contribute to business development initiatives and client engagement

  • Support content creation and project documentation

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Natural curiosity and eagerness to learn

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail

  • Experience with remote work tools (Microsoft Office, Zoom, Slack, Monday.com)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Spanish fluency or coding abilities are a plus

We're seeking an Associate to support transformative client projects by managing essential project components with mentorship from experienced leaders. This role offers hands-on experience in social impact work, building skills that align individual strengths and interests with our strategic priorities, creating a clear path for meaningful professional development. Don't worry about specific industry expertise – we'll teach you the content. Working within our tight-knit team of 20 professionals, you'll directly shape how we deliver value to small businesses while having regular access to senior leadership, including our President & CEO.

What You'll Do

  • Learn how to lead components of innovative projects focused on service development and capacity building to strengthen small businesses

  • Produce and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality presentations, reports, and analyses aligned with client goals and timelines

  • Actively support and foster client relationships through consistent communication and responsive assistance

  • Contribute to business development and client engagement initiatives, identifying opportunities for impact

  • Participate in content creation and project documentation, ensuring consistency and quality

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 1-3 years of administrative, operations, and/or project coordination experience

  • Experience engaging external audiences through client presentations, sales communications, training facilitation, or public speaking

  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities

  • Natural curiosity and eagerness to learn

  • Experience managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail

  • Excellence in both written and verbal communication

  • Proficiency with remote collaboration tools (Microsoft Office, Zoom, Slack, Monday.com)

This role is ideal for an innovative team player skilled in project management, strategic problem-solving, and effective communication – we are willing to train candidates who bring this skill set and are eager to grow. You’ll have opportunities to craft accessible, practical resources, support the development of scalable systems, and guide their delivery for maximum relevance to small business needs. Working closely with a supportive team and senior leaders, you’ll sharpen your skills, contribute to creative solutions, and make a tangible difference in underserved communities.

What You'll Do

  • Lead medium- to large-scale projects, coordinating project timelines, deliverables, and project teams to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Build and maintain client relationships, ensuring responsiveness and alignment with Civitas Strategies' mission and standards.

  • Develop innovative, impactful tools and approaches that support the sustainability of small businesses.

  • Represent the company with high-quality presentations, reports, and analyses tailored to client needs.

  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture by promoting collaboration and teamwork.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 3–5 years’ experience in project management and client relations or similar roles.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage project teams, meet deadlines, and ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and an ability to think creatively to address client and company needs.

  • Skilled in engaging external audiences through presentations, sales communications, training, or public speaking.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
