Evaluation

In November 2009, Civitas Strategies’ first-ever project was a program assessment. Effective, affordable evaluation will always be at the core of the work we do.

Over the years, we have found that the nonprofit leaders we work with are in constant need of new and innovative solutions for assessing the work they do and the impact made. We refer to this as “The Evaluation Trap,” our term for the challenge so many leaders face: they need a proper evaluation to advance their mission and attract new funding, but can’t afford the expensive, multi-year randomized control trials that are  the industry norm.

Instead, our focus is on valid but affordable alternatives, such as the Rapid Feedback Evaluation model to provide better options for leaders in today’s landscape (see The Evaluation Options the Pros Never Tell You About).

As our projects have grown in size and complexity, we’ve created a separate, independent firm, solely focused on evaluation. Today, Luminary Evaluation Group specializes in cost-effective, actionable evaluation solutions for small-to mid-sized nonprofits. Each evaluation we contract uses a participatory approach where we work collaboratively with your team to accurately assess the landscape, determine initial findings, and utilize the results to best advance your organization’s impact.
